Raising a Public Square

The pedestrian space has vanished due to the automobile. It is time to reclaim the pedestrian realm. I have raised the Public Square above vehicular space. The automobile needs to have its own space like the subway. Since we cannot lower the car because of the subway, we have to raise the pedestrian street level. The 21st Century Street is expanding upward. This can be seen throughout history in Rome, the Mediterranean, as well as the Middle East. I am inspired by the covered streets of Iran and Turkey. The submission within is a modern take on a very old dilema, American Cities have now reached the point where they must rethink the way streets are formed, we must start planning in 3 dimensions and not 2 dimensions.
